California Proposition 65

What Proposition 65 is

California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, known as Proposition 65, requires businesses to provide a warning before knowingly exposing Californians to chemicals the State has listed as causing cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

Proposition 65 is a right-to-know law. A warning does not mean a product violates any safety standard or legal limit, and it is not an FDA finding about the product. California's warning thresholds are set far below the levels at which health effects have been observed, and they are among the strictest in the world — often stricter than federal limits for the same substance.

Why our product carries a warning

Mushrooms are natural biological accumulators: as they grow, they take up trace elements from the soil and the growing substrate, including heavy metals such as lead. Trace amounts occur in agricultural products generally, including organic ones.

Because our gummies contain mushroom extracts and we ship to California, we display the Proposition 65 warning for lead on our product page:

WARNING: Consuming this product can expose you to lead, which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov/food.

We provide this warning as a precaution.
